We have had a great journey of writing activities, engaging in the different stages of the writing process, etc.  Say your final farewell/goodbye entries to Dr. Rivera and your fellow classmates.

  1. This class was more interesting than I had previously thought, the class dynamics we also very enjoyable. One of the things I have to say that I am not going to miss are the blog's codes that are required before each post. I am so tired of straining my eyes to see these oddly shaped and blurred numbers and letters before each post. The first few blog posts it took me at least three tries to get it to work, but now I can always get it on the first try.
I am very excited about the final exam projects the other students will come up with.

    1. Yeah, i hated the codes part too. It pisses me off especially when I cant read it at all or if I get it wrong so I'd have to do a new one.

    2. I have to agree with Nicholas and Shiala. Those codes are a pain in the butt. I didn't like how you couldn't understand what letters were being shown.

    3. Haha, ugh I definitely will not miss inputting those codes either!

    4. I agree with you. I have 20/20 vision, but that does not mean that I can see those blurry numbers.

    5. The blog codes were such a burden. I didn't like how we had to do that for every post.

    6. Dude, I agree with you 100%. I would have to skip to another code to one I can definitely read..

  2. This class was an awesome class to me because it was a "hybrid" class. This class allowed me to have time on my own which allowed me to be very flexible and at the same time it allowed me to learn a lot because i prefer learning with others and in person. I do not do quite well with teaching myself things. I thought I would already know everything that would be taught in this class, but it proved me wrong because there were other things i got to only learn now. It was nice to blog with others too. Except for the code part. Over time that felt more like a hassle for me to be doing. Also moodle was a new experience for me, even if it got quite tedious to be saying the same thing others have already said, I thought it was something very useful. It was useful because then I could compare my thoughts to others and it was another way for me to learn and memorize things. I hope I pass this class as well as my other classmates. Good luck everyone!

    1. I liked how she put our class sessions online, it really worked with my schedule but also made me lazy and not want to sign on to go and post on Moodle, but I did anyways because it's a grade. I think a lot of English courses should do some of their sessions on Moodle as well.

    2. Moodle has it's pros and cons.

    3. I agree, i like being in class more than online. I barely have time to be online because i'm barely home or near a computer. I enjoy class time more because we learn more when others are their to help you out and give their own opinions, and good luck to you too.

    4. Part of me liked that this was a hybrid class because we didn't have to always be on campus for class. But then sometimes I didn't want to post online.

  3. Well, this class was great for my schedule. I liked the use of both blogs and moodle to coincide with our in-class learning. I liked our class exercises and sharing. I hope that we all pass this class. I am looking forward to perhaps sharing another class with any of my fellow classmates in the future. Good luck to all.

    2. More classes need to become hybrid classes because they are cheaper and much more convenient.

    3. i agree the class exercises were one of my favorite things.

  4. This course was good on my schedule because we meet online and we met in class. This course was a big help for me; I was happy that I got to refresh my English skills that I forgot about ever since middle school. I'm glad that I was placed in EN100 because I think I would be confused in EN110. Now, I'm ready to do EN110.

    1. I enjoyed the fact that we reviewed concepts we had learned in the past. At first I wasn't happy that I was placed in EN100 but now I am glad I was. I was able to review writing concepts and prepare myself for EN110.

    2. I liked our online sessions on Moodle because we didn't have to attend class on those days. The only downfall of it is forgetting to post.

    3. This class refreshed me too. I took two years off of school and I needed my writing skills to be re-freshened.

  5. This course was very amusing and fun. I enjoyed having a variety of different students as my classmates. The online sessions and being in a classroom bode well with my schedule. I feel I have learned a great deal to advance me in my future studies. My English skills have improved and I am noted for my essays now. Well I hope everyone does well in their future endevours. Good Luck guys!

  7. I enjoyed this course very much. I have learned new and refreshed my previously learned lesson... I feel very prepared and ready for my next tasks in college. I can tackle a paper with confidence because of the Three Stages. The schedule or how the class worked was wonderful. The hybrid class was easy for me to follow... We meet on Mondays and then on Wednesdays we meet online. It's the best of traditional and modern teaching. It incorporates well in most of the students with busy lives. Awesome!

It was lovely to have met you all and interacted on the forums. Good luck in college and your future - you can do it!

    1. A hybrid is a cross between two species, for example a liger is a cross between a lion and a tiger. A liger is the biggest wild cat in the world, but is made sterile do to this crossing of species. A liger, in other words, cannot reproduce.

  8. To be honest, I really enjoyed this class. At first did not think that this class would be useful or fun. But it turns out that I was wrong. Dr. Rivera made this class feel special. Her kindness and willingness to help her students succeed in english made this class extra ordinary. You can tell that she has a passion for teaching and she loves what she does. Her class was different to other english classes I previously took because her class felt like a family. Everyone knew each other and got to bond with each other, especially those who volunteered for the LAC conference.

Overall, I am happy that I chose this class. I would not have chosen another class.

    To my EN100 classmates,

It was a great privilege to meet you all. Although I did not talk to all of you,do know that I consider you as my friend. Good luck on your future endeavours, whatever they may be. Remember that when life gets tough, you need to be strong. Good bye!!!!

  9. The way this class was structured was very different for me. When I first signed up for it, I did not know that it was a hybrid class, like there would be times where we wouldn't meet face to face. I have trouble remembering when to post sometimes, but it was beneficial to review with classmates on Moodle as well. I was very fortunate to get to know my classmates who went to the LAC a bit better. Like Rudd said, I consider everyone a friend even though I rarely talk to everyone.

Dr. Rivera was always very helpful and kind in class and through emails. She was very good at responding to me and I think she is just a very fair teacher to all of us in general.

Best of luck to everyone next semester! Happy Holidays.

  10. I really enjoyed this class because of Dr. Rivera's style of teaching. She was very lenient and kind to all. I wish I can have her for my next English class. I am sad to say that I did not get to know all of my classmates. I stuck only to the few that I already knew from high school. I hope everyone passes this class and I wish the best of luck to all in the future!

  12. English is my favorite subject, so being in the class, I enjoy every moment of learning. This was an interesting class that we should cherish because it has taught us a lot, especially the things we did not learn in our past english classes. The classmates we have and now had, were very fun to learn with :) HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE, wish i could have met all of you in the times we had together.

  13. Although English isn't my favorite subject, I have grown to like it more because of this class. I honestly feel that my writing has improved over the course of this semester. I learned a lot and I didn't expect to. I always felt knowing your grammar and spelling was all that you needed to know, but I was very wrong. I learned about many different writing techniques to write a narrative, exemplification, cause and effect, and so on. I also enjoyed the funny moments we shared in class. A lot of our classmates are very amusing. I hope to get a lot out of my future English classes as I did this one. Good luck to everyone in their future endeavors and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

  14. This semester has been fun. I wasn't that great of a writer when I first started out. But now I feel that because of EN100 I am now a much better writer and am better equipped to take EN110. It was a lot of fun getting to know you guys, especially the people who helped out at the LAC conference. I hope that I have classes with you guys in the future. Today was a lot of fun hearing the other people's poems. It was a great example of how all people write differently. I wish you all the best and hope that your finals go well. And have a happy holidays! :)

  15. My time in EN100 has been great. I despised English courses in the beginning of the semester because writing has always been my weakest subject however, I managed to appreciate writing. Dr. Rivera made the class enjoyable. I learned a great deal of information from this class and improved my writing skill. I also got to meet new people and cooperate with them. I wasn't able to get to know everyone, but I'm glad I met a few. I wish you all the best of luck on your future endeavours.

  16. I had an awesome semester with all of you as my classmates. Even if I've never spoken to most of you, it was a pleasure to have been in the same class with some well rounded people. I've never learned so much about writing until I took this class. My writing skills have improved and I would like to thank Dr. Rivera for that. I'll see you all around. Take care and happy holidays. Ciao.
