Classification is the grouping of things into specific groups. This is a useful writing technique because it allows for an indepth description of the topic. Classifications need to be specific because overlapping classifications defeat the purpose of the different classes. Classification can be used to organize subjects in an essay or items at a yard sale. The Classification of documents could be public, private, and top secret.
Today we all got our test results back. I'll say that I did ok because I passed but it was not the grade I would want to get. We all then as a class discussed subjects, principles, and classes. Then we discussed what over lapping is in writing. We all then did the exercises. In the first exercise we had to identify whether something was over lapping. In the second, we had to classify things. In the third, we had to give examples for classes. They were all pretty easy to understand and do.
The test was the hardest so far. I also got a low grade, a D. I was not prepared for the test because once again I forgot to check my calender. I will try much harder next time because I need to get better grades.
The test I got back was also a passing grade, but I'd like to do a lot better next time. Studying is vital in college. And today's exercise was pretty easy.
I hope I passed just like you, but with a better grade:) Anyways good job and I understand what you guys were going through every time you read because you were right next to me.
Today in class, we talked about Classification. To explain by classification, you put persons, places, things, or ideas into groups or classes based on their characteristics. To classify efficiently: First, you select a plural subject. Second, you then decide on a principle for grouping the units of your subject. Third, you establish the groups, or classes. Lastly, you write about the classes. In class, we had also done a few exercises about classification.
In today's class discussion we went over classifications establishing groups. We learned four procedures to classify efficiently. 1)Select a plural subject. 2) Decide on a principle for grouping the units of your subject. 3) Establish the groups, or classes. 4) Write about the classes. After reading a couple of paragraphs we did an exercise. We also had a presenter come in and tell us about all the great things about the language arts conference. I'm really looking forward to attending this conference because it sounds interesting and I also NEED the extra credit. I totally bombed the last test we took! Oh and I enjoyed today's exercises. (:
Today we learned about classification. At the beginning of class, we got our test results back. My grade isn't pretty but I am grateful to have passed. Jackie Guzman came and presented about the English Conference on November the 16th and 17th. We read about classification and spent the rest of the class doing exercises. We had to analyze which classes were overlapping in the first exercise. In the second exercise, we made our own classes for the picture of the yard sale. In the third, we analyzed a paragraph about leadership styles.
Classification means putting persons, places, things or ideas into groups based on their characteristics. Then, Jackie Guzman came in and explained what the Language Arts Conference was about. She also told us what are roles were going to be as volunteers. We did three exercises today, which is; avoiding overlapped classes, finding patterns in photos, and completing patterns of classification. The third exercise was pretty hard; 7 minutes wasn't long enough because a lot of people didn't know about the subject on cars. To finish off class we read "Styles Of Leadership" by William M. Pride, Robert J. Hughes, and Jack R. Kapoor
Today's class session was about Classification. With classification you put persons, places, thins or ideas into groups based on their characteristics. When classifying it is best to follow a procedure: 1)Select a plural subject 2) Decide on a principle for grouping the units of your subject 3)Establish the groups, or classes and 4) Write about the classes. We did two exercises, which were very amusing. I do feel that I got a good understanding of the lesson. We also had someone come in to talk about the language conference. Being the only class helping out out of Dr. Rivera's classes, I am really excited.
Oh, that is what I forgot to include. That someone came into our class to talk about the language conference. I feel like going but I am not sure when or if I even have a ride.
Today in class we learned about Classification Establishing Groups. You can use classification for college writing assignments and in careers and at the workplace. Classification put persons, places, things, or ideas into groups or classes based on their characteristics.
We did an activity where we need to avoid overlapped classes. We also did an activity about finding patterns in photos (Yard Sale) and completing patterns of classification. We read Styles of Leadership and did the critical thinking.
I didn't put the definition of classification in my post but it is the same as yours. Also, avoiding overlaps in classification is important. So the activity was helpful in understanding that portion of the lesson.
For today's discussion, we talked about classification and how to establish the different categories for a subject. We also completed exercises that dealt with distinguishing classes that belonged in a certain category and what didn't. Styles of Leadership was a classification paragraph that was visually helpful for this lesson. One of the exercises was kind of difficult, but by practicing the exercises at home, I can get a better understanding.
Today I got my test score and by the look of the score, it looks like I have to start studying. We also had Jackie, our team leader come into class and talk about the volunteer work for the conference. Today was fun and interesting, other than my test score today was an awesome day in class. I can not wait till next class session.
Well, while everyone was discussing Classification, I was taking Test number 3 :) I have this huge feeling I might have failed. Only because I was not nearly ready for this, but I know I tried my best and that is what counts. When I was done, I have enough time to have fun on one exercise with the class, which dealt with leadership. Then I left early to try and beat the buses going into GW, to pick up my mom and sister at the baseball field, sadly I did not make it, and had to wait.
We learned about classification today in class. We went in detail about the subjects, particles and class goes hand in hand with classification. It was a difficult concept to grasp at first, but by doing the various exercises I was able to understand the lesson.
Today, we discussed classification. Classification is the use of grouping based on characteristics. The exercises today was really fun and helpful with concept of classification. Then, Jackie Guzman came in to explain the Conference and I am really looking forward to getting the extra credit and hearing from key note speaker, Efren pinaflorida. Today was a great day for me.
During today's lesson we discussed classification. Classification is the use of grouping based on characteristics. We read about classification just to get a gist of what it is about. The exercises that were given in the book allowed us to understand how to classify things, and how classification works. Then during class Ms. Jackie Guzman came to explain the conference that is coming up.
Today was a pretty fun class. We had Jackie come in and talk about the extra credit opportunity and I was very glad that I was able to become a part of that. We got our tests back today and my score was definitely not what I wanted it to be. But that just means I need to study more for the next test. We also talked about Classification today and the topic was pretty self explanatory which made today's lesson fairly easy. All in all, today was a pretty good class.
Today was a pretty good day. I got my test paper today and I honestly need to improve my studying. Hopefully, I'll get a better grade. We also had a little presentation from Jackie about the extra credit Dr.Rivera is giving us. We also talked about Classification and did some activities in the book. Overall, class was pretty fun today.
Today we had a productive class period. Right when we got into class, we found out what we got on our third test. I was surprised with the grade i got. I know I could've done better and prepared for it more. Hopefully I will do better next time. After that, we discussed our extra credit with Jackie. For the rest of the class period, we discussed Classification. We read aloud and did some exercises. It was a fun class and went by pretty fast.

ReplyDeleteWell said and I agree.
DeleteVery nice explanation and persuasion. If we do overlap, it really does defeat the purpose of using different kind of classes.
DeleteGreat description of classification.
DeleteI agree with your explanation. Classifications help readers get a good in depth understanding of the topic.
DeleteGreat explanation.
DeleteGreat explanation!

DeleteIt was a pretty hard test. I think we all got thrown off because the other tests were pretty easy for us. Haha.
DeleteI will not do the extra credit because I have a class on Saturday.
DeleteLooking forward to taking part of the English Conference on November 16 & 17
DeleteI didn't do very well on that test. Guess we should just study more for the next one.

DeleteJackie Guzman did a very good job presenting today, too bad I cannot go to the conference. I plan to study harder for the next test.
DeleteThe exercise for the yard sale was really simple. However, when writing a classification piece, I'm assuming it would be more creative than that.
DeleteGreat job on passing.
DeleteCongratulations on passing! I passed the test as well but I am disappointed on my grade.
