Today we mainly discussed editing. We learned about COPS which is Capitalization, Omission, Punctuation, and Spelling. We also learned about CLUESS which stands for Coherence, Language, Unity, support, and sentence. We all then did group activities to better our understand editing. Over all, it was fun.
I enjoyed the group activities because they made me see how other people solve problems. Editing is not my favorite thing to do, but I think I can do it without so much anxiety.
Class today was very interesting for me. We discussed more on editing and the learned more on the acronyms COPS and CLUESS. We also took a new group picture because I wasn't able to attend class the last time. We also did group work with editing paragraphs and essays. It was fun exercise.
I think we will have to take another picture next class because I heard someone wasn't here today. I think that the exercises were very helpful, but I have to admit they are also fun.

We learned about a couple acronyms, CLUESS (coherence, language, unity, emphasis, support, sentences) and COPS (capitalization, omission, punctuation, spelling), that will help us in the future. The exercises were a bit challenging, but I know that I will improve in due time.
Today's class time was, once again, enjoyable. We touched on Editing and Revising. We spent time reading the paragraphs and then dove into working on the exercises, which were quite a challenge to edit. Everyone had different perspectives and that's always fun to see and collaborate on. We learned the acronyms CLUESS and COPS, which essential when you revise/edit your paper or someone's. I learned that it takes time and patience in editing and I always loved giving my paper to 2 or 3 friends to overlook. As stated above, everyone has different perspectives when it comes to editing.
We also took a new group picture. I wasn't ready at all but still cool. We were missing Sabrina.
Asking someone else edit your paper is the best way to catch most things. It is very hard to edit your own paper because you correct the phrasing in your head and you think it is correct.
In class we went over some editing exercises. We had to look over a paragraph and check for incorrect grammar and spelling. It is hard to edit a paper that is so bad you can't really understand the main idea of the paper. The COPS and CLUESS methods are great for editing papers. It is best to have a friend look over your paper instead of looking over it yourself. It is hard to edit your own work because we tend to self correct our work as we read it.
Today's discussion was focused editing. We learned the acronyms CLUESS and COPS. After that we did two exercises. We had to edit two different paragraphs. It was fun working together as a group. It was a bit difficult editing the paragraphs, but hearing each others input helped. I enjoyed today's class session.
We discussed the types of editing on todays session. We were able to showcase what we learned through the two editing activities. Editing the two essays allowed us to edit the common mistakes that writers omit. I had a hard time editing the essays due to the fact that I did not have the prompt in my book. However, as we were sharing our corrections, I found out that we were able to locate the grammar errors visible in the essays. We did miss a couple of spelling and grammatical errors, but that is okay.
Today's class was all about editing in the writing process. We talked about the two acronyms that are related to the editing process which are C.G.P.S and C.L.U.E.S.S. It was good to repeat the main ideas during the editing process and it was fun working with the group activities.

We later did some activities where we had to partner up with our classmates. It was an awesome activity because it not only helped me learn about editing, but also got me and my partner to interact together.
I learned not to always rely 100% on auto correct. It is also good to be recursive when editing. We did editing exercises that helped us exercise the uses of C.O.P.S. and C.L.U.E.S.S. I worked individually on correcting the essays. It was faster but it took a lot more thinking than if I worked with someone else. Editing is pretty tricky.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I need a friend to look at my paper to see if I need more editing on my paper. It helps both by seeing each other's editing.
DeleteYes, we tend to overlook our own mistakes or just anything that could be improved, so it is advisable to have a friend proofread our work.
