Today we mainly discussed more on outlining in chapter two. We also discussed what a subject and treatment is in a sentence. We learned different ways of outlining like for example exemplification. All of these helps better an essay because it points out what are your main points or topic and shows supporting details for it.
I forgot to mention the different types of outlining. That was also helpful information because it gave us examples of what our outline would look like.
In today's activities one of the things that stood out to me was outlining. I thought it was pretty fun and interesting. It is important because it is a great way to organize your writing. It also helps you think more about your key points and your topic. I came to class a bit late so that was pretty much what I remembered.
Outlining is a great way to organize our writing. I agree that it does help us think more about our key points and topic and it also helps me remember them.
Although I wasn't able to attend class, I had help from my fellow classmates on what they did today. So I read page 45 on my own and learned more on organizing information, outline examples like what Shiala said above about exemplification and another one would be process analysis. I also tried to do the exercises on my own. It went pretty well. I suggest we take another class picture because i'm not I'm it! Maybe? Have a good night everyone!
Today's class was focused on Outlining. This is a great tool to organize all the thoughts that you want to put in your essay. I have never really been a huge fan of outlines but outlines are very effective in organizing. All in all today was a great class.
Today, we had done exercise 6 and 7. It was a good exercise as it helped me learn what kind of outlines there were and how to differentiate between them. It was pretty funny hearing peoples answer on the exercises because some people have some crazy answers. So anyways, we also did a class picture which was pretty funny. Overall, it was a good day.
It was kinda funny. The class picture was a little awkward..just a little. But overall, the class was good. I enjoyed it. I hope the class can be more comfortable with each other before it ends.
Today's activity was interesting. We did an exercise on outlining and later presented it. Since no one wanted to volunteer I was the first one to present my answers. It was pretty embarrassing, but funny at the same time. We had to fill in the blanks with our own answer and the ones I came up with were just weird, but at least I made the class giggle just a little. I learned something new today and I enjoyed our discussion. I'm looking forward to more class sessions like these.
Yes, it was a fun day in class today, I too hope that we have more fun class session. But the good thing though is we going to have a class party or um how we(or few of us)use to say it in high school, Educational Fun Time.
Today we dealt with outlines and practiced through exercises 6 and 7. It was good to practice skills we can use for organizing our details during stage two of the writing process. I think the answers for today's exercises were very productive and contained a variety of sources. I think today was great.
I agree. Today's class was very productive. Although we've only had class for several weeks, I feel like my writing is already improving. It is mostly due to all the helpful techniques. I like how the lessons go into detail.
Today's class discussion consisted of stage two of the writing process. We talked about the importance of a thesis and organizing the support. We also discussed the different techniques that will aid us in writing them. I know how to create an outline, but i never really used it when I write. I usually just free-write and continue to edit and revise my paper from there, skipping stage two. Now, I think I can really improve my writing by using the techniques we are learning. Today's discussion was very helpful to me.
Today, we learned a lot about outlining. It divides controlling ideas and gives sequence. I learned that there are two main outline forms: sentence outline and topic outline. We did some exercises in class and most of us shared our responses. It was a very productive class and I enjoyed it. Before the class ended, we took a class picture. This was fun and a great idea. It was overall just a great day.
Today we learned about outlining. We talked about the different types ways to outline your work. The different types of outlining: Narration, Exemplification, Analysis by division, Process analysis, and cause and effect. We did some exercises to practice our outlining skills. I wrote my outline on my mom being my hero. Then, we took a class picture to end the day.
In today's discussion, we mostly learned about outlining. We learned that there are two kinds of outline forms which are the sentence outline and topic outline. I didn't know this before. I just thought we only had one kind of outline. After we read about outlining, we did a couple of exercises on it. I think outlining is a good way to help you organize what you want to write about. I usually try to make an outline whenever I have to do an essay. It helps me remember what I want to write about in my essay and when to write about it in the text. We also took a class picture today. We also got out of class ten minutes before it actually ends. It was good and productive day.
Today's class time was pretty great. I enjoyed working on the exercises (6 and 7) from Stage 2. I never knew that they're were different kinds of outlining (Narration, Exemplification, Cause and Effect, Process Analysis, and Analysis by Division) and I also enjoyed outlining, which I rarely use when I work on my essays/papers. I'm going to start using it now because it's easier than I thought. It also organizes my thoughts much better. My outline was on my favorite tv show, Supernatural. At one point, we took a class photo but we were missing Nina - I'm hoping we take another one.
Same as I, I too did not know that there were different types of outlining, so I was happy to learn that there are. The next thing I now need to learn, is how to tell the difference.
In today's discussion the class learned about the different ways of organizing support. Three ways one can organize support is through listing, clustering, and outlining. The type of organization method that was discussed the most and found most effective was outlining. There are two different forms of outlining which are sentence outlines and a topic outline. The sentence outline consists of a subject and a focus, while a topic outline consists of a major support, minor support, explanations with details and examples. I found that topic outlines are more effective and helpful. Today's class was very productive.
Outlining was today's topic of discussion. Outlines are made using numbers, letters, and roman numerals for the subject and the focus. The three types of outlines I remembered are cause and effect, process analysis, and analysis by division. Those types of outlines are very similar to my outlining note taking method. At the end of class we took a class photo.
During our last face-to-face meeting, we talked about Outlining and the different forms of outlining; -narration, -exemplification, -analysis by division, -process analysis, -and causes and effects. We practiced outlining by filling in the blanks in Exercise 6 and making our own outlines in Exercise 7. I think that what we learned is especially important, since it's pretty new to most of us. It will definitely help me with my confidence as a writer, because I will have a clearer image of what to write.
In our recent session we learned of outlining. Outlining can be defined as an organized plan, using Roman Numeral numbers for the subject and focus while numbers and letters for the support; it also shows how you will go about your topic. We also learned about five different forms of outlining, which follows: narration, analysis by division, process analysis, cause and effect, and exemplification. We even practiced our outlining today by through exercise 6 and 7; and got the chance to share with the class what we wrote down. This exercise definitely helps me in organizing my outline correctly.

ReplyDeleteI think we should take another one too. Everyone in our class should be included.
DeleteI agree. We should take another class picture when everyone is present.
DeleteYes, I believe we should take another photo, I wish we could have a not so serious photo, a.. how do I say this, a Troll Picture.
DeleteI second the motion on the Troll Picture. Lol.

DeleteIt was funny hearing other peoples responses on the exercise we did today.
DeleteBefore today's class, I also had a tough time differentiating the types of outlines.

ReplyDeleteMe too, I don't really use outlining much. I will start using this technique because it will help me organize my ideas and how the order will be.
DeleteI agree! I usually skip stage 2 as well, but in this class time, it made me realize that writing is easier when you outline your ideas properly.
