Today we read a few paragraphs on the writing process: stage 1 (experimenting/exploring/gathering information). It was said that there are 3 different strategies; 1) exploring/ experimenting/ gathering information, 2) writing the controlling idea/ organizing and developing support, and 3) writing/ revising/ editing. We learned about the word recursive which means to go back and forth in the writing process. I believe that it is good to go back and forth when reading because there's no point in reading something if you don't understand it. I always go back at the things I read because sometimes I get easily distracted. Its a bad habit but the recursive strategy works perfectly for me. After we read, we had nothing better to do so we started brainstorming on out All About Me Essay which is due next meeting and I totally forgot about it because we didn't talk about it since the first day. I'm currently having a hard time trying to sum up myself in an essay. I never thought it would be so difficult, however, i'm sure i'll be able to finish it on time.
Nina brought up some more things I did not mention, she brought up recursive. Going back and rereading it is a great way to smooth out an essay. I have problems with teachers that do not talk about the homework assignments.
I also believe that going back and forth is important especially when you don't understand what you're reading and it is also beneficial when writing because it allows you to go over your work.
I also find it difficult to remember assignments because in highschool our teachers always reminded us about them. College is a whole different experience and I like it. It's teaching me to be more responsible and how to manage my time more wisely.
I also think that college is making me more responsible, but teachers should discuss homework assignments with their student so that they can understand what it is they have to do and get a better grade.
Writing the All About Me essay will allow us to present who we are and what we plan to become. For those who know which career path they will be pursuing, it is a chance for them to express their ambitions. I know which career I want to enter so this essay would act as a drawing broad or a game plan for what I wish to achieve in life. For those who are undecided, it makes them think of what they want to do with their lives. I hope that by writing this essay, they will have a better view of which career path they want to pursue.
I like Rudd's writing style because he is straight to the point. I think this essay will make our class think about their futures. I hope that everyone can work hard to improve their lives. I like how this assignment will make people honestly look at themselves and what they have done.
I admire your attitude towards this assignment. I hope you make that game plan to achieve your goals. As for myself, I am one of those who are undecided and I do hope that by writing this essay, I will have a better view or at least a clue on what I would like to pursue.
I know what i want in the future, but i still have a long time before it happens. Who knows, it even might change in the next year. I think I still have a lot to learn about myself, and this essay will definitely help me with that.
Reading,I am glad it ended early because I do not have my book on me right now. Notes, the only notes I took today was the format on how to write the All About Me essay. All About Me essay, right now as I am typing I am brainstorming on what to write on my essay, I was going to start on it a week ago but I decided to procrastinate, I told myself to study for two quizzes instead of doing the essay early, but I procrastinated on that too. Hopefully I turn in the essay on time, I do not want to retake this course. From now on I will not procrastinate that much.
Clint, notes are very important for all college courses, I know that some people did not take notes for today's class. Procrastination is common amongst students, it is a good habit to break because once you finish your work you can enjoy your day to the fullest extent.
Procrastinating is common among students and I admit that it is a problem for me. Hopefully I learn how to fix this problem before it really affects my grades. I'm practicing time management to help with the whole procrastination issue. I hope you find a solution that works for you too.
I also agree that procrastination is a common thing among students. Don't worry Clint, you're not the only one that procrastinated on the essay and I am also hoping I turn in my essay on time.
I also told myself that I will not procrastinate in college, but it's hard. I'll try to do better in the future though. I don't want to retake any of my courses either.
Nice post Clint. What I like about this is the fact that you did not post the things we learned in class. You blogged about a flaw that almost everyone has. Great reflection man.
Today's discussion we read a few paragraphs on the Writing Process: Stage 1. Stage One consists of exploring, experimenting, and gathering information. Stage 2 consists of writing the controlling idea, organizing and developing support. Stage 3 consists of writing, revising, and editing. We also took a look at the Writing Process Worksheet. The Writing Process Worksheet shows directions for the three stages of the writing process. Using the Writing Process Worksheet, it will make your assignment clear to understand and complete. I have already finished my "All About Me" essay and I had it peer reviewed by one of my fellow classmates. I'm glad that I got some feedback to make my essay better. I put a lot of details into my essay to meet the requirements.
The peer review activity really was helpful. I like how one of our classmates gives us some feedback on our paper. I think it helped better my essay and it also helped me feel a lot more confident in my work. I remember you told me you finished your essay since the second day of class. I like your work ethic.
Today we found out that we already discussed most of the things we are suppose to discuss today. There are a few things though that we just learned today like for example, the three stages of writing. Stage one is exploring, experimenting, and gathering information which is basically just coming up with your ideas or brainstorming. Stage two is writing the controlling idea and organizing and developing support which is probably the drafts or your outline of your essay. Then finally, stage three is writing, revising, and editing. This process is the final stage where you gather everything and put it into one final essay. We also found that writing is like reading because it is recursive. So just like reading where if you did not get what you read you go back and read it again, it is the same with writing. We also read about the writing process worksheet, the assignment, and your audience in personal, academic, and career related writing. These are just ways to help you and better your essay. They are like guides. the worksheet and assignment are like reviews to make sure you did things right and the audience is just to help you figure out how to write your essay based on who you want to approach or want to reach out to.
I agree that knowing who you're audience is and focusing on the topic to write about is important when writing an essay. I also forgot to mention the word recursive in my post, but it is a lot like the way you put it. I tend to go back and read things when I write or read and I think it is a good habit. It helps you notice your mistakes and maybe helps you realize there's something you don't like and want to change.
In today's class, we talked about the Stage One of Writing Process. Stage one includes exploring, experimenting, and gathering information. We also learned "recursive", which means going back and forth. I think that recursive is important in writing process because it gives us the opportunity to think and write more specifically about the topic that we are going to talk about. We also did a draft for our All About Me Essay and we tried to proofread it.
I think that our posts were similar because we sat next to each other during class. Gathering information for writing has always been a dreaded part of writing for me. I prefer to make things up when I am asked to write an essay. I wonder if anyone dislikes the encrypted code that is required to post a comment as much as I do?
Today, we read briefly on the topic of prewriting. We went over the process of exploring, editing, and rewriting. Then we were allowed to work on our All About Me essays. I personally took the opportunity to start my two page essay. I used the webbing technique to figure out my focus. My main points in the essay were school, family, and music. I let Geena edit my paper and she gave her thoughts on my essay's structure, besides that she liked it.
Today, we read about Writing Process. We went through 3 stages of writing process. Stage 1 talked about exploring, experimenting, and gathering information.Stage 2 talked about controlling the idea, organizing and developing support. And finally stage 3 talks about writing, revising, and editing. Throughout the reading period, the number one thing I remembered was that it helps to reread something if you don't understand it. I read really fast and sometimes I don't understand what I read, so I do this all the time. After reading, we had some spare time. So we took the time work on our "All About Me" essay.
For today we discussed the Writing process and its three stages. Stage one includes exploring, experimenting, and gathering information. Stage two includes writing the controlling idea, organizing and developing support. Stage 3 includes writing, revising and editing. We also discussed about the Writing process worksheet that is included in our textbook. It was weird that we didn't have that much to discuss today but the time to work on our "All about Me" essays was very helpful. I believe in taking the time to write our essays we will continue to define what we want for our future.
It definitely was more of a stretch to think about what we are going to write about ourself. But I agree that we will be able to really figure out what we are going to do with our lives.
On today's session, we read a few paragraphs on stage one of the writing process which includes exploring, experimenting and gathering information. We also discussed recursive which means to go back and forth. After our reading discussion, we were able to work on our All About Me Essay. I had a difficult time contemplating on what and how to write an essay about myself and my aspirations. Hopefully this essay will teach me something about myself and figure out what my aspirations are.
Today we talked more about the writing process. We talked about gathering information so that we can right a more resourceful paper. Soon we are going to be able to apply what we have learned about he writing process in our "All About Me" essay. By writing this essay we will be looking into what we plan to do in our futures. I hope that we will take a closer look into what we want to do with our lives.
Today's activities included somewhat of a review on the stage one writing process, the writing process worksheet, and working on the All About Me Essay. Despite he fact that we went over stage one, it was helpful to go over it again and discuss the writing process worksheet since we will be using it in future assignments. The spare time we had in class was also helpful because it gave us a chance to, if not conclude, then get started on our essay assignment. Lastly, discussing the Writer's Guidelines and learning that it will be on our tests was also helpful. Now we have an idea of what will be on our test and we can prepare for them effectively.
Today we discussed the writing process, but with more detail. We discussed all three stages of the writing process. Stage one includes exploring, experimenting, and gathering information. Stage two includes two important strategies which are writing the controlling idea, and organising and developing support. Stage three includes writing, revising, and editing. These stages allow a writer to succeed in writing an effective essay. We also worked on our "All About Me" essay, and we did some peer editing.
Today's class session was geared towards working on our "All About Me" essay since we've covered the lesson for today last class. But we did read about the Writing Process and its 3 Stages. Everyone else has talked about it and so I won't touch on it, but I did enjoy reading and learning the process - acquiring new ways to write efficiently. After reading, we all started working on our essay. I free wrote instead of webbing since I'm accustomed to such. I got a page in before it was time to Peer Review. I read Sabrina's and I really love her essay, I learned a bit about who she is. She also read mine, there were errors and I'm glad she took the time to correct them and tell me afterwards. I read and edited Jennalynn's and I liked hers too - very detailed. I'm having a tough time on the essay, it should be easy, but I don't really like talking about myself so it's difficult. The easy part is what I aspire to be, the rest is just... Unwritten for now.
Today we read a couple of paragraphs about the writing process. We went over the three stages of writing the process. Stage one was about exploring, experimenting, and gathering information. Stage two was about writing the controlling idea and organizing and developing support. Stage three was about writing, revising and editing. We also learned about the word recursive, which means going back and forth. It's always good to go back and forth when reading or writing something. It gives you a better understanding of what you're reading and it helps you make the corrections on what you're writing. After our discussion we used the rest of the time to work on our All About Me essay.
Today, my class had learned that they had already reviewed the Writing process last Monday. Anyways, we read about the three stages of the writing process. Stage one was exploring, experimenting, and gathering information. Stage two was writing the controlling idea, organizing and developing support. Stage three was writing, revising, and editing. In class, we learned to be recursive which meant to review your writing. Being recursive is a good thing because it helps find errors in your writing.
Looking over your paper is always a good thing to do. You'll never know if you have any errors unless you check. Reading it aloud may also help, as well as having someone peer edit it for you.
Every writer must review his or her work no matter what. They sometimes also have peers review it. Keep peer review in consideration when you finish your work.

We learned about stage one last week in class, so our teacher had us start on our All About Me Essay that is due on Wednesday. Before the class ended, we had to partner up and peer edit. Overall, it was a productive class.
Good job in listening to the discussion Crystal. Today's class was productive because we were given time to do our work. When the teacher gives us time, we have to take advantage of that.
We read a few paragraphs today that involved the stages in the writing process. I'm sorry, but I couldn't really follow along with the reading, but I reread the pages and understood it better. After we were given time to work on our All About Me essay. I did the webbing style and made my good friend Rudd take a look at it. Having peers review or preview your work is a great way to excel in your writing skills because it allows more room for improvement, insights from other people, and gives you an idea of what the reader is looking for. Great class, and GREAT ENERGY EVERYONE!
I am very sad that I could not make it to class the other day, but from reading the book, I did learn the Defined Writing Process. It includes steps and stages that will help you write a paper that is well organized and thoroughly thought. Stage One consists of exploring, experimenting, and gathering information; and so forth to stage two and three. I learned also of the word "recursive", which I have heard of before. Recursive means to go back and forth. This helps you make changes to your essay.
